Technical Designer

As architect of the clothing industry the patterndesigner/techn. designer definitively determines the quality of the product - fit, look and silhouette. He turns creative designs into wearable fashion. An understanding of fashion and the ability to capture the zeitgeist are basic qualifications. Deep understanding for shapes and silhouettes and knowledge about the technical feasibility requires a close collaboration with the production. In this process the pattern designer is engaged in various collaborations within the company, international production plants but also with suppliers and customers.

The industry expects these qualifications:

- An apprenticeship as a tailor in trade or as a tailor in the industry

                                or

- A practical training in industry or trade for several months

               and for further ecucation

- Studies in fashion design or clothing technology,                        

                                or

- Professional school for pattern making und clothing technology                       

                                or

- School for master craftsmen
