IACDE International Summit 2019 in Amsterdam
- an amazing event from the start to finish
« It has been 2 full days of networking and intense learnings and we walked away with so many new insights ».
« We made great contacts at the Summit, well worth us attending ».
« The venue, the organization and each single workshop were all done to perfection »…
… these are only some reactions given by participants at the end of the first IACDE International Pattern Design & Garment Technology Summit 2019 in Denim City, Amsterdam!
This year, the first IACDE Pattern Design & Garment Technology Summit brought us to visit the “Denim City” Campus of Knowledge, Innovation and Encounter in Amsterdam! It was established by the House of Denim Foundation with the mission to inspire, to practice and to bring garment industry towards innovation and sustainability.
On May 2nd to 3rd IACDE International has been organizing training sessions and workshops for international pattern makers, technical designers and brand teams. Together with Denim City a variety of garment development related topics among them sewing, cutting, finishing and draping were provided: Worldwide product developers and representatives of the supplying industry together under one roof!
The workshops especially organized for the summit participants offered the possibility to interact in a full-service industry standard set-up. They were powered by a team of tailors and garment experts and offered practical courses, sample making and small run production facilities for pattern makers and technical designers.
The leader of the trainings and workshops, Mariette Hoitink Co-founder of Denim City, Maarten Wentholt, the head teacher of Denim City Academy, Master Tailor Jos van den Hoogen and Draping Artist Michiel Keuper spent their whole live in the garment business. They are all connected by a true passion for denim, innovation and craftmanship.
This program with real practical hands-on activities has been established as an alternative experience to the usual Convention format. A well selected and exclusive group of partners from the supplying industry threw spotlight on their latest product innovations and ideas and at the end of the event each attendee received a certificate.
According to the 95 participants from 10 countries, the first IACDE Summit provided real life work experience also for young professionals: “This experience is priceless as it is what employers look for in incoming talent. The lessons learned from the IACDE workshops cannot be learned in a classroom setting. We also encourage those who are in the position to mentor to encourage their stuff to go there. Always be willing to share your knowledge with the future of our business! It is a truly rewarding experience”, said Roland Schuler from IB Company, Peek&Cloppenburg.
See you again at the IACDE International Convention 2020 in Eastern Europe!
A huge thank you goes to our sponsors and partners. IACDE International events would not have been possible without them.
